Glee! I really like how this one turned out.
And this is all markers, baby -- no colored pencil "cheats."
The great Casey Coller let me color this lineart print. It's in his gallery here: www.deviantart.com/art/Wrecker…
Holy cow, this was fun. It also took me far less time than these usually do. I went after it without much hemming and hawing, and it just came together. Hooray!
Today's lesson: You can get neat light color effects on metal with little slashes of color; you don't need big hefty ones for them to come across. (Also, these guys ain't the type to polish much, so little shininess needed.)
Did you see what I did with the smoke trail? Color gradient with a purpose, ftw!
I looked at the two other colored versions of this on DA for inspiration (as well as at my gorgeous Springer toy -- if you haven't bought him yet, you owe it to yourself to run out to the store right now!!) I made some different decisions, which I hope work well. I did my best to work the values and colors together so that nothing fights, and both guys command equal attention. I'm very stoked by how well this whole thing came together. So much awesome! Thanks again Casey, for making this great page, and for letting me color it.
not gonna lie -- I would totally make out with Springer in this.
