"...That's A Question You Should Ask Yourself, Megatron."

Or, as 3-year-old daughter just said when I showed her this picture, "Shoot him in the head!"

OK. I ain't gonna lie. I love this picture HARD.

:iconchannandeller: is one of my new favorite lineartists of them all. This piece [link] was a preview for a TF Mosaic -- A Single Panel, People!!! -- and I saw it and about died. I told Ironhide I'd found something I just HAD to color, showed it to him, and he looked at it for a few seconds and said, "Yup. You're gonna have to color that one." Holy slag yeah. This is just my kind of style. So worship Channandeller, and muchas gracias for drawing this EPIC PICTURE. I mean, LOOK AT IT!!! Look at the fragging Telephone Poles, for Primus' sake! (They are my random favorite part.) I love how much debris there is, but that it all works together to make the picture better. Holy crap I worship this guy. :worship::worship::worship:

OK. *pause for breath*
About the colors, i.e. the only part I can take any credit for:
This is one of my very favorite pieces I've ever done, and as far as I'm concerned, some of my very best work to date. I had the really good experience of looking at this, and thinking, "You know, I think I'm starting to be able to make things that are genuinely good!" It was a very nice feeling! Man. You guys should see this thing in real life. It slagging GLOWS. One of my favorite things I did was to put that hint of glowiness on the dark inner part of Prime's left leg. I'm Starting To Know How To Do It, Josh!!!
Funny thing, though -- I think Prowl hit it right on the money when she said it looked like those old Price Valiant comics. Anyone remember those? Ha ha ha. Ah well. I LIKE that sunset, fraggit! It was a lot of work to get right, but I LOVE that underlighting and the DRAMA and stuff.

HolyFragILoveThisPictureSoHard.
Take THAT, Megs, you slagging glitch!

I am so very, very grateful to all the lineartists here who let me color their work. Thank you, thank you, thank you all. I am forever in your debt.

Prismacolor markers and colored pencils on light grey-blue cardstock. The pencils are mostly over the marker in the sky, to blend it; and also used for all the glowy bits over the black lineart.
Thanks as always to Grapple, for her colored pencil wisdom, and for letting me have access to her Infinite Supply(tm).

I do not own Prime or Megatron. I pretend to be Prime. Megatron lives in my head. Hasbro owns them. Hasbro owns us all. I have given them a substantial portion of my earnings over the past several years. Praise be unto those who have invented this universe in which we play and revel.

EDIT: Here's what the finished Mosaic looks like. [link] I LOVE the philosophical questions dealt with in the Mosaic, and the lines are amazing. Boy, would I like to color the whole thing and hang it on my wall!
That's why I do what I do, Megatron.

Ha-HeePrime is well known for adding awesome colour to already stunning Transformers art, but this particular image supercedes all those that came before it.

The colours are subdued but vivid, and effortlessly enhance the forboding atmosphere - imagine this fight under a sunny blue sky, or a nighttime cityscape, and it just isn't the same.

Nothing in this image is one shade of colour. Look at Megatron's shoulders reflecting the orange sky, or the demolished buildings - everything has colours within colours, all acting together to create a superior whole.

Contrasting colours ensure the robots pop out of their surroundings but they don't overwhelm the scene. This is as much about the environment as it is about the characters, and it's nice to see the surroundings coloured in a realistic way.

Yes, we've all seen countless Megatron V Optimus fights but Ha-HeePrime didn't create the linework so I can't critique for that. I've given 5 stars for Originality because the colouring IS original to this linework and it shows the very best of Ha-HeePrime's intense stlye.

This is what true collaboration and genuine love for a fandom can do. It's been a fun ride watching Ha-HeePrime's technical skills develop over time and I know there are plenty more Drawings of Great Love and Awesome to come!
